It's been many months since floods devastated our area, but the work in the flooded region continues. Today, the Stockton and Minnesota City area known as Garvin Brook needs your help.
Currently, the state of Minnesota has a work crew of local residents that are working to clear debris (mainly trees) out of Garvin Brook.
This effort to remove the blockage from the creek is being conducted in order to mitigate the potential of future flooding to the Minnesota City area.
While these residents are doing a great job, they can't do it alone. More assistance is needed, and if you have the time and can meet the criteria below, I strongly encourage you to help out.
Needed are people who own and can operate their 4-wheel drive tractor that's equipped with a front-end loader. These folks will help haul the wood out of the creek to open areas.
Also needed are people interested in taking the wood, free of charge, for burning. Please note the wood will already be cut. All residents have to do is show up with their truck and haul it away.
Anyone who can help out in either capacity should call Steve Runkle at (507) 429-1091 for further information and directions.
