Arvin E. Thompson, age 79, of rural Nelson, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at Pepin Manor.
Arvin was born on June 24, 1926, in the Town of Modena, Buffalo County, Wisconsin a son of the late Ole and Anna Thompson.
Arvin honorably served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. A few years later on June 4, 1960, he married his love, Dorothy Dierauer, at Alma, WI. He farmed most of his life, first he farmed with his father Ole and then later in his marriage he and his wife farmed together until he retired and sold his cows around 1979. He loved to meet people and play cards.
Arvin will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years Dorothy, of Town of Modena; seven children, Karen (Chuck) Keenlyne, of Elmwood, WI, Judith Thompson, of Eau Claire, Sally (Loren) Johnson, of Eau Claire, Joseph Thompson, of Nelson, Kathy (Butch) Steele, of Pepin, Michael (friend, Connie) Meyer, of Alma, Jane (John) Oberg, of Mondovi; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five sisters Ruby Steiner, of Alma, Elaine Haigh, of West Point, Iowa, Elizabeth Kreibich, of River Falls, Mary Ellen Thompson, of Eau Claire, Kathleen Rieck, of Nelson; one brother Olgar Thompson, of Eortland, OH; and by many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, a grandson, Brian, preceded Arvin in death.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 19, 2005, at Lyster Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Vetsch officiating. Burial was at the Lyster Lutheran Cemetery.
