Winona Reads! Finale: Silent Spring in 21st Century Winona

Imagine Winona without bald eagles soaring over the Mississippi River. Imagine Winona without songbirds returning each spring. Thanks to Rachel Carson's watershed classic, Silent Spring, we still enjoy these natural wonders.

The Winona Reads! Community Book Project invites you to join WSU professors Bruno Borsari, Toby Dogwiler, Robin Richardson, Ed Slowik and Sustain Winona member Martha Greenwald for a panel discussion regarding the relevance of Silent Spring in 21st Century Winona on Tuesday, January 31at 7:00 p.m. in the Winona State University Science Lab Building Auditorium (Room 120). The panelists will offer their assessments of how this groundbreaking work has affected the Winona area in addition to lessons still to be learned 40 years after its publication.

Winona Reads! is sponsored by The Friends of the Winona Public Library, the American Association of University Women, the Winona Public Library, and WAPS Community Education.

This program is free and open to the public. For more information contact Vicki Englich at 454-1215.
