January 9

The Chautauqua Club of Winona will meet January 9, at the home of Laura Eddy at noon. Cathy Bartleson will cohost and Patte Peterson will have the program. If you cannot attend the meeting please call Laura at 454-8725.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Winona #191, will meet on Monday, January 9, 2006 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Meeting will begin at 6:30 pm. Kevin Kearney from the Winona Police Department will speak on safety tips, ways to protect ones self, phone scams, etc. Guests are welcome.

January 10

The Winona Voice of the Faithful group will meet Tuesday, January 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Commons at St. Mary's Church, Winona. The group aims to support survivors of abuse, to support priests who are faithfully living their vows, and to work for structural changes in the culture that contributed to the crisis. January 11

The Winona Collector's Club will meet January 11, at 1:30 p.m. for a potluck Christmas party. Bring a three dollar gift and items for card bingo The Christmas party for December was canceled due to bad weather.

January 12

The Soaring Christian Singles group will be starting to meet twice a month. Our first meeting of the new year will be January 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse in Lake Village, 27 Michigan Lane. We will be discussing our plans for 2006 and playing cards. Refreshments will be served. So bring a friend and plan on having fun! New members are always welcome! The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Roundtable will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday, January 12, on the second floor of the Winona County Historical Society building, 160 Johnson St. The topic will be about the experiences of Jeanette Steiner during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, and her journey to the U.S. All are invited to attend.

January 14

The American Association of University Women will meet Saturday, January 14, in the Purple Rooms at WSU. Coffee at 9 a.m., meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m. Ann McDonald, Leadership Institute Director for Outreach and Continuing Education at Winona State University, will speak on "Taking on Tough Conversations." This presentation is not limited to AAUW members. All interested persons are invited.
