Weather cause of head-on crash

On December 26, at 6:24 p.m., the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-car head-on crash with injuries on Schansberg Road near Larkin Valley Road, in the Township of Preston.

Officers determined on scene that the 23-year-old driver Kaylyn M. Blasing, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., lost control of her 2001 Chevy Cavalier, due to the snow covered roads, which caused the vehicle to spin sideways and strike an oncoming 1996 Buick Regal driven by 53-year-old Dale W. Wolfe, of Hixton, Wis.

Blasing and her 3-year-old and 8-year-old passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall, Wis. Wolfe was treated on scene for minor injuries and released. The investigation revealed the crash was due to weather conditions. All individuals involved were wearing seatbelts.

Assisting the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department were the Whitehall Police Department, the Blair Fire Department, and Tri-County Ambulance.
