Kiwanis Sunrisers recognize Cooper Hancock

(7/31/2017)

Cooper Hancock was recognized as the Kiwanis Sunrisers of Winona 4-H Youth Representative for the month of July. Cooper is a sophomore at Winona Senior High School and the son of Kim and Corey Hancock of Rollingstone. He is a member of the Winona River City 4-H club and is currently serving as the vice president.

Throughout Hancock’s time as a Winona County 4-Her he has participated in many club service projects and attended Citizenship Washington Focus in D.C. this past June. His most outstanding accomplishment in Winona County 4-H so far is leading his 4-H club in volunteering at Feed My Starving Children for the past two years. He has taken fishing sports, rube goldberg, video, computer and youth leadership projects to the County Fair and the most interesting thing that he has learned throughout his project work was that his “knowledge in the project is more important than the display.”

Hancock participated in Citizenship Washington Focus and learned that “you do have a voice and if you have enough ambition you can make a difference.” 4-H has given Hancock “the opportunity to attend Citizenship Washington Focus, meet new people and learn so much.”

Winona Sunrisers Kiwanis Club honors one outstanding Winona County 4-H member during its breakfast meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. The club meets every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the Winona Family Restaurant in Winona.
