Winhawk running back Robert Warren scored the final touchdown that cinched the Winona victory.
“I think we played pretty well,” coach John Cassellius said. A victory, he continued, always feels great especially against a quality team like Mankato West. “It’s great to come out on top,” he said.
The stands of Paul Giel Field were filled with a sea of orange and black as Winhawks of all ages came to support the football team during the Winona Senior High School (WSHS) Homecoming game. Last Friday, the Winhawks faced off against the Mankato West Scarlets. By the end of the fourth quarter, the Winhawks beat the Scarlets with a score of 38-13. This was the first time Winona beat Mankato West in 17 years.
