Where to vote for WAPS referendum Nov. 7

Winona Area Public Schools is the only entity with an election this November. The school district is therefore required to administer the election rather than the election running through the city or county offices, and is allowed to have combined polling places.

The referendum question asks voters for $82.4 million — $145 million with interest — to fund a facility plan that would close Jefferson and Madison elementary schools, expand W-K and Goodview, and renovate secondary buildings.

How and when voting can occur

All polls will be open from 7 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Voters will not be required to check-in at the school office on election day; curbside voting will be made available as needed at each polling place.

Absentee voting continues through Monday, November 6, at the district offices located at 903 Gilmore Avenue. In-person absentee voting is available from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays until Friday, November 3, and until 5 p.m. on November 6. Absentee voting may also be done through U.S. mail at no cost to the voter; to request an application call 507-494-0861
