The WINONArts series of free creative events is excited to present the first of many outdoor movies in its Movies (Under The) Stars series: “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” at the East Rec. Center lawn on Saturday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. (210 Zumbro Street).
“The Last Jedi” was a huge blockbuster hit last year and is the second installment of the latest series of Star Wars films. The Minnesota Conservatory of the Arts is partnering with WINONArts to have a kids Star Wars themed crafts event before the film starting at 7 p.m. The Movies (Under The) Stars films will all be free, along with popcorn and Lakeview root beer served at this showing as long as it lasts.
The upcoming movies in the series are as follows: on Cinco De Mayo (May 5) the academy award winning “Coco” will be shown in Sinclair Park, and on July 28, in the heart of summer, organizers will be bringing back the drive in movies by partnering with Lakeview Drive Inn to show a sing-a-long version of the latest live action “Beauty and the Beast” and Best Picture winning “The Shape of Water” in a double feature with something for everyone in the park right across Sarnia Street from the drive in. Lakeview will have special concession deals throughout the evening.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” on April 7, will feature prizes for the best adult and kids costumes. Here is a synopsis of the film: With the destruction of the Republic, the evil First Order reigns. Now, Supreme Leader Snoke looks to crush what’s left of the Resistance and cement his grip on the galaxy. But hope survives: Rey has found Luke Skywalker, a legendary Jedi Master who can change the tide of war.
See you at the Movies (Under The) Stars!, the WINONArts Series featuring 25 free creative events held throughout the year in various municipal parks and venues throughout Winona. WINONArts is possible thanks to founding sponsorships from Winona National Bank and Merchants Bank.
