Calling all Minnesota entrepreneurs, inventors, researchers, and small business owners interested in competing for $475,000 in seed money: There is an incredible opportunity for Minnesotans working on the next breakthrough business venture — Minnesota Cup.
The Minnesota Cup is an annual new venture competition for Minnesota entrepreneurs, researchers and inventors. Since its inception, the Minnesota Cup has awarded more than $2.4 million in seed money to Minnesota startups. Organized by the University of Minnesota, Minnesota Cup is a startup competition and hub to connect Minnesota’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Participants in the 2018 Minnesota Cup will be competing for more than $475,000 in available seed money. Whether you are at the point of inception or already have created a company and are pursuing your breakthrough idea, this program is intended to provide support for you as an entrepreneur.
Last year’s grand prize winner was MicroOptx, Inc., a medical device company that makes implants for halting the progression of glaucoma. Entrepreneurs based in Minnesota with less than $1 million in annual revenue are eligible to apply in one of nine divisions:
• Education and training
• Energy/clean tech/water
• High tech
• Life science/health IT
• Impact entures
• Student (current undergrad and graduate students)
• Youth (18 and younger)
