Winona Health Foundation event benefits local Patient Care Fund

The 2018 Ben & Adith Miller Classic will be on Monday, August 13, at Cedar Valley Golf Course.

The annual golf outing, which began in 1990, is a fundraiser for the Ben & Adith Patient Care Fund, a special fund through the Winona Health Foundation that provides financial assistance to help individuals in need pay for medical care.

“This golf outing raises funds that help so many people in our community,” said Betsy Midthun, vice president of community engagement at Winona Health. “The Ben and Adith Miller Patient Care Fund is a direct reflection of people’s generosity and, based on the letters we receive, the recipients are profoundly grateful.”

Free exhibition by golf pro

In addition to the 18-hole main event and the nine-hole Green Monster Challenge, the event includes a free public golf exhibition. Chuck “The Hit Man” Hiter® is a premiere golf entertainer with more than 20 years of experience. He has performed over 2,000 exhibitions and has been featured in golf publications and television sports shows including appearing on ESPN’s Top Ten Plays of the Day. He set a Guinness World Record for distance and accuracy while hitting a golf ball out of mid-air. Top PGA tour pros, other professional athletes, as well as a multitude of A-list celebrities, proclaim he is “the best golf entertainer in the world.”

Chuck “The Hit Man” Hiter will give a demonstration at Cedar Valley Golf Course, free and open to all ages, at 10 a.m.

18-hole main event

The main event begins at 11 a.m., with registration and lunch, followed by a noon shotgun start for the four-person scramble. There will be hole prizes and competition prizes, followed by a reception and exhibition by Chuck “The Hit Man” Hiter and an awards banquet at Cedar Valley Restaurant. Participation in the main event requires a hole sponsorship, which is $2,500 and includes all of the above, plus refreshments on the course, a participation gift, foursome photo with Chuck “The Hit Man” Hiter, awards and dinner.

Green Monster Challenge

The Green Monster Challenge begins at 12:30 with registration and lunch. After lunch, participants will head out on carts for a shotgun start on Cedar Valley’s Green Monster course. The format is a four-person scramble with hole prizes and competition prizes.
