Great River Shakespeare Festival (GRSF) and Visit Winona will be partnering this season to place the GRSF Box Office in the Visitor’s Center on Huff Street between the lakes. GRSF will be operating at the Visitor’s Center during business hours in addition to also having box office hours at the WSU Performing Arts Center before shows begin. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Visitor’s Center to celebrate the new box office as well as the unveiling of GRSF’s new logo.
The Great River Shakespeare Festival has been making some big changes in anticipation of its 15th season, including more than tripling the number of free Concerts on the Green, adding a “Shakespeare for Young Filmmakers” youth summer class, and working with Chartwells to offer food options during every concert. Another big change will be shifting its “business hours” box office from its downtown office location on Third Street to the Visitor’s Center on Huff Street.
Visit Winona’s Visitor’s Center is open every day of the week to offer visitors travel information and serve as a resource to Winona’s many tourists. The Great River Shakespeare Festival Box Office portion of the Visitor’s Center will be open on Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. GRSF will also have gift shop items available for sale at the Visitor’s Center box office during the day and at the WSU Performing Arts Center during performances. The downtown main office for the festival will remain open for administrative staff, but patrons are encouraged to use the new location at the Visitor’s Center for all box office concerns.
GRSF and Visit Winona will host a ribbon cutting to commemorate the new box office location on Friday, June 1 at 11 a.m. Community members are invited to attend the ceremony, which will be facilitated by the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce. GRSF’s new logo will be unveiled just after the ribbon cutting and the new box office and gift shop will open for business immediately afterward.
The GRSF Visitor’s Center Box office will remain at the Visitor’s Center on Huff Street throughout the run of the festival until August 5. For more information about the new box office location or the festival, please call the box office at 507-474-7900.
