The fundraising effort to construct an all-inclusive playground near the bandshell in Lake Park is in high gear. To help bring attention to the project known as Every Child’s Dream — Winona, the three Winona Lions clubs placed this eight-foot-long banner along the railing of the present play equipment. Once the funds have been raised, the present structures that no longer meet safety standards will be replaced with equipment that is ADA certified. In other words, the new equipment will be accessible to all children regardless of their physical or developmental abilities.
The Lions have the opportunity for a grant of $100,000, provided they raise an additional $50,000 by June 29, 2018. They urgently need you support. To meet the projected time line, this goal must be met. If you wish to donate to the project, please make your check payable to Winona Community Foundation, 104 East Fourth Street, Winona, Minn., 55987, attention: Jack Krage. Please put “Every Child’s Dream” on the memo line.
The goal is to remove the old equipment immediately after school convenes this fall. The site will be prepared for the installation to begin in the spring. Once the site is ready, the poured-in-place surface will be laid down and the equipment installed. The plan is to have this in place and ready for the children to enjoy when school dismisses next spring.
Please help make this dream come true. Follow the project’s progress on Facebook at Every Child’s Dream – Winona. The children thank you for your support.
If you need further information or if you wish to make a designated donation toward purchase of a specific piece of equipment, please call Jack at 507-458-6315.
