The Wabasha County Historical Society (WCHS) is hosting Gary Schlosstein of Castlerock Museum, Alma, on Sunday, July 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Reads Landing School Museum. He will offer a discussion about Knighthood, the Code of Chivalry, hunting, the royal sport of jousting and the School of Battle. Access to items dating from 100-1,000 years include authentic arms and armor, helmets, and swords used by the Grecians, Romans, Dark Age warriors, Vikings, crusaders and knights. After the discussion, there will be an active participation period in order to handle the weapons and armor of the common soldier and noble knight.
Rug loom weaving will also be demonstrated that day.
The admission fee is $5. It is free to Wabasha County Historical Society members and includes a tour of the museum and Agricultural Heritage Building.
The Reads Landing School is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. through mid-October.
