Winona Senior High School (WSHS) senior Griffin Wolner, son of Brad and Shannon Wolner of Winona, was named the 10th annual WSHS Winhawk of the Year.
Walner was choosen from 70 Winhawks of the Week by WSHS faculty and staff. The Winhawk of the Year is an individual who is considered to be responsible, hardworking, enthusiastic, positive, dependable, and portrays a positive image of Winona Senior High. The 70 Winhawks of the Week were chosen form the 200 seniors at WSHS.
Tyffanie Denzer, daughter of Eric and Wendy Denzer, was named first runner-up and Zachary Schmit, son of Mark and Tammy Schmit, was named second runner-up.
As Winhawk of the Year, Wolner received a personalized graduation banner donated by Todd Hoffman Design, a $50 cash card donated by WNB Financial, and an engraved plaque donated by La Boutique Engraving & Gifts.
All 70 Winhawks of the Week received food coupons donated by Erbert & Gerbert’s, Winona Sandwich Co., and Taco Johns; a movie pass donated by Winona 7 Theater; printed certificates donated by Print House; a bumper sticker donated by Wincraft; front row parking from WSHS Principal Mark Anderson; and photos and a Bloedows doughnut donated by the Winona FFA chapter.
The winners were announced by Winhawk of the Week Coordinator Brian Sather and Anderson during a ceremony at WSHS on June 1.
