Friday, July 27

·At 9:35 a.m. a bank card was reported stolen from the 100 block of Whispering Lane.

·At 12:04 p.m. a silver Giant Cypress DX bicycle with a value of $300 was reported stolen from the 50 block of East Fifth Street.

·At 6:53 p.m. a man reported the theft of a Minnesota license plate from his car.

Saturday, July 28

·At 12:13 a.m. police stopped a motorized bike at Third and Huff streets after the driver allegedly ran a stop sign. The driver, Donald Allie Huck, 49, of Winona, was cited with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated and gross-misdemeanor refusal to submit to testing.

·At 1:31 a.m. police stopped a moped at Third and Franklin streets. The driver, Scott Taylor Yess, 50, of Winona, was allegedly sounding the moped’s horn continually and driving on the sidewalk. Yess was cited with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .12 percent.

·At 2:34 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on Seventh and Hilbert streets. The driver, Jaquann Oshay Hughes, 24, of Winona, was arrested for third-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .11 percent.

·At 12:43 p.m. police responded to reports of a motorcycle crash at the bottom of Garvin Heights Road. The motorcyclist reportedly failed to negotiate a turn and slid, hitting a curb. A 29-year-old man and 27-year-old woman from Hubertus, Wis., were transported to Winona Health for medical treatment.

·At 2:45 p.m. a man reported finding a timber rattlesnake in the road on the 1800 block of Edgewood Road. A snake handler was called in to remove the animal.

·At 3:14 p.m. a woman reported finding a timber rattlesnake in a woodshed on the 1300 block of Skyline Drive. A snake handler was called in to remove the animal.

·At 11:30 p.m. a 17-year-old boy from Sun Prairie, Wis., was cited with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on the 300 block of Pelzer Street.

·At 11:49 p.m. police assisted in breaking up a large fight near Market and Third streets.

Sunday, July 29

·At 1:15 a.m. police arrested Dennis Craig Smith, 61, of Winona, for an outstanding warrant, fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia after he allegedly had two grams of methamphetamine on his person during a traffic stop. Another passenger, David Patrick Fournier, 51, of Rochester, was also cited with fifth-degree drug possession after police reportedly found 0.092 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket.

·At 3:04 a.m. Mariah Joy Zuccarelli, 22, of Rushford, was cited with fifth-degree possession of marijuana after police reportedly found 60.9 grams of marijuana and a scale in her vehicle during a traffic stop near Junction and Park streets.

·At 11:31 a.m. a woman reported a black Coach purse was stolen from her car in the Midtown Foods parking lot sometime on July 28. The purse has a value of $400, and the contents included several bank cards, a wallet, and $820 in cash. She also reported a $203 transaction made with one of the stolen cards.

·At 12:11 p.m. police cited Connor Jacob Perkins, 20, of Winona, with theft by shoplifting at Wal-Mart.

·At 6:52 p.m. a man attempted to use a fraudulent $100 bill marked “motion picture use only” at Wal-Mart.

Monday, July 30

·Between 4:05 and 4:10 p.m. three men reported property removed from an unlocked locker at Midwest Metals, including a backpack, a phone and several chargers.

·At 7:08 p.m. a timber rattlesnake was spotted on the 1300 block of Skyline Drive. A snake handler was brought in to remove the animal.

·At 8:24 p.m. a woman reported young children attempting to get in to the coin operated washers and dryers at the Fifth Street Laundromat. The children were gone when officers arrived.

Tuesday, July 31

·At 1:32 a.m. police cited Alison Jane Landwehr, 21, of New Brighton, Minn., with third-degree driving while intoxicated after she was allegedly slumped over in her car on the 100 block of Market Street. She reportedly had a blood-alcohol content measured at .23 percent.

Friday, July 27


·At 5:23 p.m. deputies responded to an injured female hiker at Whitewater State Park. The woman, 28, of Austin, was hiking when she reportedly lost her footing, slid down the hill and hit her head on a tree. She reportedly lost consciousness for 30 seconds. She was transported by ATV off the trail and treated for her injuries.

·At 6 p.m. a Winona woman reported that an unoccupied house on Old Homer Road was burglarized between July 25 and July 26. No items were reported missing.

Saturday, July 28

·At 1 a.m. deputies cited Floyd Kenneth Saville, 51, of Hudson Falls, N.Y., with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content measured at .12 percent. Saville was initially stopped for allegedly speeding on Highway 76.

·At 1:02 a.m. Bryon Franklin Conry, 26, of La Crosse, Wis., was cited with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance after deputies reportedly found a container of schedule-two stimulants during a traffic stop on I-90.

·At 2:22 p.m. deputies assisted a St. Charles woman who locked herself out of her house. The woman’s nine-day-old child was inside alone. A deputy, who had just taken a lock-picking course, bypassed the lock and let the woman back inside.

·At 11:49 p.m. deputies assisted in breaking up a large fight near Market and Third streets.

Sunday, July 29

·At 2:30 p.m. the sheriff’s department activated the Emergency Operations Center after a funnel cloud was reported over Lewiston and Alma. The funnel cloud did not touch down.

Tuesday, July 31

·At 6:58 a.m. deputies responded to a domestic call on the 8500 block of Main Street in Stockton. Shawn Michael Fort, 27, of Winona, was arrested for domestic assault causing harm to a 32-year-old woman and obstructing the legal process.
