We are so blessed to live in America where we often take the supply of our basic needs for granted. Do we ever thank God for our job, for our education, for health care? Or do we feel that the world owes us and we have a right to those things. The former CIA director is upset because his security clearance was revoked by our President as if it was his right to have it after he left office. Sorry, that doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Our founding fathers in the Bill of Rights spoke certain inalienable rights being life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Yet we deny the right to life to a million unborn children every year, discarding them as rubbish. All of this for the sake of women’s rights. We forget that rights may be forfeited through unwise decisions or illicit acts. The blood of the innocents cries out from the ground for vengeance. There will be a day of reckoning. God help us!
However, we can thank God for the services, the privileges and opportunities that are available to us. I’m not sure they are rights we can demand. God has given us life with its possibilities and opportunities. What we do with it is our responsibility. And because he is a loving God, he offers his love and forgiveness for our transgressions and failures to the penitent who seek him. Christ’s death on the cross purchased that for us. Turn to him, he is waiting for you.
