Friendship Center schedule of events

Winona Friendship Center members will receive a renewal letter a month before they need to renew their membership. Yearly memberships are $29 for individuals and $39 for a couple (two per household). Interested community members may stop into the center to renew or purchase a membership. Hours of operation are on Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2018 Active Wellness Center membership
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, Winona State University (WSU) exercise science students are available for monitoring and training. The center has older adult friendly exercise equipment and workout programs designed specifically for each individual. Release forms must be filled out prior to your workout on the first day; forms will be faxed to participants’ doctors to avoid charges for an office visit.

Payment is required upon registering. The cost for members is $76 annually.

Energy medicine
Wednesday, September 5, to October 17, from 2-4 p.m.
Enhance your health with useful and easy to learn alternative medicine techniques. Learn together through hand-outs, slide shows, demonstrations, video clips, and hands-on practice with study group mates about how energy medicine could energize your life.
This class is presented by Elmer Mattila and is free for members.

Saturday feature movie
Saturday, September 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon
Bring your friends, grandkids, family or neighbor, to the monthly family-friendly movie (rated PG). These films are open to all! Stop by or call the center to read about each featured film. Pre-registration is not required; the cost is $1 per person.

Second annual potato bar
Tuesday, September 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Come and join the Friendship Center for a baked potato and homemade dessert and support your Activity Council. This event will be held at the Eagles Club, 210 East Fourth Street. Advanced ticket sales prior to Friday, September 14, can be purchased at the Friendship Center. Tickets are $7.50 on site, at the door, or at the center.

The cost is $8 for deliveries of five or more.

The Winona Friendship Center is open to all individuals ages 55 and over. For more information about classes, hours, or nominal class or participation fees, please stop in or call 507-454-5212.
