Luke Merchlewitz, Washington-Kosciusko Elementary School second-grade teacher, was selected as the recipient of the 2019 Harriet Sanford Award for Distinguished Global Learning. This award recognizes individuals that have been a part of the NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellows program that is committed to global learning. Merchlewitz has practiced and continues to engage with the NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellows community and demonstrates these lessons through his teaching practices. Through all these experiences, he is bringing the world to the classroom.
As a recipient of the 2019 First Harriet Sanford Award for Distinguished Global Learning, Merchlewitz was also awarded $5,000.
