The man found dead in Monday morning’s house fire has been identified as David John Seaman, 55, of Winona, according to the Winona Police Department. Police said there is no threat to the public.
At 3:51 a.m. firefighters received a report of a house fire on the 100 block of East Sanborn Street. The first fire engine reportedly arrived at 3:55 a.m. and flames were visible from the side of the home.
The fire reportedly took around 40 minutes to be extinguished, after which firefighters performed a primary and secondary search of the house. One individual, identified as Seaman, was found dead at the scene, according to the Winona Fire Department.
The cause of death is still unknown. Seaman was found in his home on the 100 block of East Sanborn Street after the fire was extinguished.
The Winona Police Department, Minnesota State Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and Winona Fired Department are investigating the cause of the fire and Seaman’s death.
