The Lanesboro Barn Dance continues its 25th season on Friday, August 16, at DreamAcres Farm, 17289 County Road 8 in Wykoff, Minn. The starting time is 7:30 p.m. and admission is $8 at the door; family rate (up to four) is $20. Come early for DreamAcres’ famous wood-fired pizza starting at 5 p.m.
No experience is necessary and there’s no dress code. You need not come with a partner; just ask someone to dance! All organized dances are taught. This is like the old-fashioned barn dances that were once the mainstay of entertainment in this part of the country. Ann Carter, noted square dance caller from Minneapolis, Minn., will be teaching and calling square dances and big circles. Old-time string band music will be furnished by fiddler John Lane and local favorite Bob Bovee on guitar and harmonica.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
