Friday, August 23

• At 8:47 a.m. a Winona man reported the theft of $700 in cash from a residence on the 400 block of East Third Street.

• At 10:54 p.m. police cited Noah Heise Hinsch, 20, and Nicholas James Thomforde, 20, of Goodhue, Minn., with underage consumption of alcohol near the intersection of Broadway and Lafayette Street.

• At 11:23 p.m. police cited Derek Joshua McMahon, 20, of Zimmerman, Minn., with public urination near the intersection of Seventh and Huff streets.

• At 11:24 p.m. police cited Martin Reyes, 19, of Winona, with driving after revocation, having no insurance, and possession of a small amount of marijuana on the 200 block of Winona Street.

Saturday, August 24

• At 12:01 a.m. police cited Dustin John McNamer, 23, of Hokah, Minn., with public consumption of alcohol on Second and Main streets.

• At 12:04 a.m. five Winona individuals reported the theft of multiple items including Xbox consoles, games, controllers, backpacks and more with a total value of $2,275 from a residence on the 350 block of West Fifth Street. They had reportedly had a party the night before.

• At 1:40 a.m. police cited Mason Richard Smith, 23, of Winona, with public urination near the intersection of Fourth and Market streets.

• At 11:39 a.m. police arrested Timothy John Holzer, 46, of Winona, and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property after he was reportedly found in possession of a stolen bicycle and two pills later identified as hydromorphone hydrochloride on the 1050 block of Frontenac Drive.

• At 11:06 p.m. police ticketed Anthony Thomas Meister, 20, of Winona, with minor consumption of alcohol near the intersection of Third and Center streets.

Sunday, August 25

• At 2:12 a.m. police arrested Michael Reza, 30, of Arcadia, and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of second-degree driving while intoxicated and giving a police officer a false name after he was stopped near the intersection of Huff and Seventh streets for allegedly failing to maintain his lane of traffic. He reportedly told officers the name of a different Wisconsin resident. His blood-alcohol content was reportedly measured at .18 percent.

• At 10:44 a.m. police cited David Kiante Munson, 21, of Chicago, Ill., with giving a false name and date of birth to an officer and disorderly conduct on Broadway and Main Street.

• At 6:55 p.m. a Bloomington, Minn., man reported the theft of a bicycle from the 250 block of Lafayette Street.

Monday, August 26

• At 2:07 a.m. police arrested Eugene Arlan Aslakson, 52, of Winona, and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of third-degree possession of methamphetamine and fifth-degree possession of buprenorphine after he was stopped for allegedly traveling too slowly and failing to maintain his lane of traffic near the intersection of South Baker and Gilmore streets. In a search of the vehicle, officers reportedly located a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine with a total weight of 15.98 grams, and a container containing five pills that were identified as buprenorphine and naloxone.

• At 4:32 p.m. a Winona man reported that sometime overnight someone stole a lawn edger, weed whacker, push lawnmower, and socket wrench set out of his shed on the 400 block of West Sarnia Street.

• At 6:07 p.m. a Winona man reported a suspected assault that took place sometime in the early morning hours near Broadway and Lafayette Street. The man told police he was walking home from a residence on the 150 block of East Broadway; the next thing he could remember was waking up in the emergency room with a black eye and a serious cut to his head. The man believed he was assaulted. Officers found the man’s billfold near Broadway and Lafayette Street. Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said it was hard to know for sure if the man was assaulted, fell, or struck by a car. • At 1 a.m. officers ticketed Santiago Anastasio Romero, 20, of Winona, for minor consumption of alcohol at the intersection of Third and Liberty streets following a complaint of people throwing glass while walking down the sidewalk.

• At 12:11 a.m. deputies arrested Jacob Lee Brown, 19, of Rosemount, Minn., and referred him the county attorney for a potential charge of fourth-degree driving while intoxicated after he was stopped near the intersection of Broadway and Winona Street for allegedly failing to maintain his lane of traffic. He reportedly had a blood-alcohol content measured at .16 percent. Deputies also cited passenger Lucas Dean Lewis, 19, of Farmington, Minn., with underage consumption of alcohol.

• At 1:27 a.m. deputies cited Gregory James Voves, 20, of La Crescent, with underage drinking and driving after he was reportedly stopped near the intersection of Mill and Huff streets for allegedly having an object suspended from his rearview mirror. Deputies also cited Caleb Virgil Redman, 21, of La Crescent, with possession of an open container of alcohol in a moving vehicle, and Kaytlin Nicole Holtz, 20, of Westby, Wis., with underage consumption of alcohol.

• At 1:49 a.m. deputies cited Malachi Charles Athnos, 18, of West Salem, Wis., with underage consumption of alcohol after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped on Huff and Seventh streets for allegedly running a stop sign. He reportedly had a blood-alcohol content measured at .2 percent.

• At 2:23 p.m. deputies arrested Cindy Carol Peterson, 54, of Minnesota City, and referred her to the county attorney for potential charges of fourth-degree burglary and damage to property after deputies responded to a report of a suspicious woman walking around Judy Lane in Minnesota City. According to the report, a witness reported seeing the woman –– later identified as Peterson –– break in to a residence on Judy Lane by breaking the doggy door. The homeowner was reportedly not home at the time this happened, and later told police he was not missing anything.

Monday, August 26

• At 1:42 a.m. deputies ticketed Clifford Walter Gozdal, 33, of Winona, with disorderly conduct at the Stockton trailer court.

• At 12:13 p.m. deputies arrested Jeffery Allen Barry, 56, of La Crosse, Wis., and referred him to the county attorney for potential charges of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic needle following a report of a suspicious person at the Dresbach boat landing. The complainant told dispatchers a man was waving a gun in the air at the landing, and deputies reportedly arrived to find Barry yelling, throwing objects around, cutting brush with a machete, and shooting a BB gun into the air. Deputies performed a pat-down search and reportedly found a hypodermic needle, a pipe, and two baggies on Barry’s person that contained trace amounts of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Tuesday, August 27

• At 12:43 a.m. deputies arrested a 57-year-old Utica man on suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a Winona Police Department traffic stop at Huff and Second streets in Winona. According to the report, the officer stopped the man for weaving and drifting and alleged that he showed signs of impairment from both alcohol and controlled substances. A deputy working an anti-impaired-driving shift took over the investigation and arrested the suspect. Deputies said they plan to refer the man for charges pending results of a blood test.

Saturday, August 24

• At 10:11 a.m. officers responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash on I-90 in Dresbach. A 2006 Mercury Montego, driven by a 20-year-old woman from Cashton, Wis., was reportedly traveling eastbound on I-90 when the vehicle left the roadway. It then struck the cable barrier along the median, crossed the eastbound lands and came to a stop after colliding with the guard rail on the ride side of the highway. The driver was reportedly transported to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis., for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Sunday, August 25

• At 7 p.m. officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 43 near St. John’s Lutheran Church. A 2011 Chevrolet Equinox was reportedly traveling northbound on Highway 43 when it stopped to make a left turn. The Equinox reportedly turned into the path of a Pontiac Tempest, traveling southbound on Highway 43, which then collided with the Equinox. The driver of the Equinox, a 77-year-old woman from Rushford, was transported to Winona Health for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A 68-year-old female passenger in the Tempest was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
