U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is looking for areas in pool six to stockpile sand from its dredging operations. One area that was not mentioned and would be most beneficial in my opinion is the former Madison Silo property. It is located north of Westfield Golf Course between Prairie Island Road, Pelzer Street, and the railroad tracks. Currently this area is wasteland with an old deep gravel pit that has little value. By filling in this marginal area that lays inside the floodwater dike system it would become a valuable piece of commercial property that would create a new source of tax revenue for the city and county. This would make a lot of sense to me and would be the most beneficial use of the dredging material.
