Paintings from the Museum of Russian Art will be displayed Jan. 12 through Feb. 13 at the Lillian Davis Hogan Galleries at Saint Mary's University.
The Museum of Russian Art in Bloomington is the only museum in the United States dedicated to the preservation of Soviet-era art. Paintings from the late 19th century Tsarist period to the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 portray Russia through the eyes of its most accomplished artists.
On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Bradford Shinkle IV, president of the Museum of Russian Art, will talk about the museum and its collection at 7:30 p.m. in Figliulo Recital Hall, located in the Performance Center.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information, contact Sister Margaret Mear, (507) 457-1592 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is event is part of the Russia Series, a year-long focus of special events at Saint Mary's University, featuring Russian culture, politics and art.
