Nancy A. Kalmes, 50, of Winona, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Nancy was born in Winona, on June 1, 1954, the daughter of Richard John and Lorraine Norma (Waldera) Cieminski. She married Mark Raymond Kalmes on August 12, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Nancy had been a systems analyst for over 25 years and had worked at Fastenal for the past nine years. She was a member of the Polish Heritage Society, the Polish Museum, and St. Stanislaus Kostka Church of Winona.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Mark, of Winona; daughters, Renae (Bless) Hobbs (Michael) of Minneapolis, Erika (Kalmes) Jadwinski (Pete) of Winona, Ahren (Kalmes) Breton and Brittany Kalmes of Nashua, N.H.; grandchildren, Tristan Hobbs, Domingo Kalmes, Tyler Fernandez, Brandon Zube and Millie Breton; sisters, Constance Jean (Brian) Wagner of Bozeman, Mont., Cathleen Jo (Syed) Faruque of Winona, and Judith Kay (David) Weiland of El Cajon, Calif.; a brother, R.J. (Amie) Cieminski, of Greeley, Colo.; her father, Richard John Cieminski, of Winona; her grandfather, Norman E. Johnson, of Winona; many uncles and aunts, nephews and nieces; her Fastenal family; many wonderful friends; and her most precious baby dog, Lucky, and her cat, Scratch.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine N. Cieminski (Winona), and a brother, Nicholas Francis Cieminski (Texas).
Nancy was dearly loved by all who have known her. She had a marvelous sense of humor and brought great cheer and laughter to so very many people. She was truly a bright and shining star whose capacity for love and joy was an endless and overflowing cup that was shared with all. She shall be missed beyond measure by her entire richly blended and complex extended family and friends. We are comforted knowing that she was blessed in love, peace and rest in the comforting arms of Jesus.
The family wishes to thank all the loving staff, with special acknowledgment to Nurse Daisy at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, for the wonderful care provided to Nancy in her final weeks, and to Father Shawn Haremza, the family's most special friend and spiritual advisor, for his prayers, comfort and guidance in her final hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 31, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with the Reverend Shawn Haremza officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with closing prayers at 8 p.m., and again on Friday at the church, one hour prior to the Mass.
Honorary urn bearer will be Syed M. Faruque.
Honorary pallbearers will be Peggy Shadock, Kate Hanson, Michelle Alseth, Tami Jo Nerby, Anna Albrechtson, Julie Jackson, and Kathy Merck.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Lorraine N. Cieminski Scholarship at Winona State University, or to Winona Hospice.
