When William Shakespeare was a boy, traveling troupes of players came to his town of Stratford on several occasions. The city elders paid the troupes to perform for everyone in the town, and young William was introduced to the theater. As a member of the Great River Shakespeare Festival acting company, I cannot thank you enough for continuing this grand tradition by funding the Festival. Thank you for welcoming me into your community, and thank you for making our work possible. While I cannot guarantee that any young Winonan will grow up to be one of the greatest writers the world has ever known, I do know that it will be a privilege to perform for you all next summer.
