A tip from U.S. Postal Inspectors led to a big drug bust in Winona last week. Winona police officers arrested 35-year-old Winona man Aaron James Glende on six charges of possessing and selling drugs. According to police, postal inspectors reported finding packages connected to Glende that contained prescription pills. Officers executed a search warrant of Glende’s home on Friday, March 11, and reportedly found two U.S. Postal Service packages ready to be sent that contained the prescription narcotics Valium, Xanax, and oxycodone. Officers reportedly found a trove of other drugs at Glende’s home: nearly 600 Xanax pills, more than a dozen dextroampethamine capsules, 138 oxycodone pills, nearly 50 Valium pills, marijuana, and marijuana wax. Officers seized $1,300 in cash. Glende’s residence on the 700 block of Winona Street is just a block away from Lake Park, so in addition to various felony-level charges for the possession and sale of drugs with potential prison sentences ranging from five to 20 years, Glende was charged with second-degree sale of oxycodone in a park zone, which is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
