Winona State University’s Art and Design Department will host a “WE”nona by Chunlok Mah from Wednesday, March 15, through Wednesday, April 5, in the Paul Watkins Gallery of Watkins Hall.
This exhibit will feature work and discussions by Mah, WSU associate professor of design, from his travels while he was on sabbatical in 2014. Mah plans to install several thousand safety pins in the gallery as a national symbol of showing support for the vulnerable and advocating for inclusive communities. The safety pins will be painted purple and silver to symbolize WSU and the greater Winona community working together and supporting one another.
Mah will give a talk and host a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5. Mah will discuss his work starting at 4 p.m., and the reception with hors d’oeuvres will follow from 5 to 6 p.m.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays.
