Midwest Music Fest (MWMF) is an annual nonprofit music festival held in downtown Winona and La Crosse, Wis., in April each year. MWMF features the best in established and up-and-coming music acts of the Upper Midwest, and also includes arts and children’s programing. In its eight-year run, the festival has shown continuous growth.
In 2017, MWMF doubled its presence in La Crosse by offering two days and adding two venues. The Winona portion of the festival saw its largest one-day attendance on Saturday with over 1,200 people. The festival continues to experience large increases in many important areas including five-year benchmarks: ticket sales (quadrupled), overall income (doubled), earned income (four-fold increase) and in-kind sponsorships (10-fold increase).
This year included the christening of the Founder’s Stage at the Historic Masonic Theater to highlight founder Sam Brown’s contribution to the festival and the community of Winona. MWMF intends to continue this tradition in years to come, and sees a bright future in its efforts to bring music tourists to the downtown areas of these historic river cities. MWMF will continue to be the place where music and community meet through shining a light on local and regional talent from the Midwest, promoting the arts, and providing music-related educational opportunities for both adults and children.
The mission of Mid West Music Fest is to promote music and art activism in the region, creating opportunities for artists, stimulating downtown economic development, and providing diverse educational resources for artists, community members and children. In order to fulfill its mission as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and keep ticket prices low, Midwest Music Fest relies on the generous support of donors.
