The League of Women Voters will host a public forum on the Winona Area Public Schools’ upcoming referendum. The forum will be held on Monday October 23, 2017, at 7 p.m., with live TV government access channels broadcasting. It will be held at Winona City Hall in the council chambers and will be moderated by Stephanie Nuttall, LWV Winona president. The event is co-sponsored by the AAUW and WSU social work students.
Superintendent Rich Dahman will present information from the school district; others may also speak. The public will be allowed to submit written questions during the forum.
This is a special school district referendum ballot. All the polls will be in the districts schools. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 7, 2017.
Combined polling places have been established at:
• Winona Senior High School
• Winona Middle School Central
Citizens age 18 and older who have moved since the 2016 election, never voted before or are new to the Winona Area Public Schools District have until October 17 to register at the website of the Minnesota Secretary of State. If you need help to register online, you may go to the Winona County Government Center, 177 Main Street, and find the Winona County Auditor/Treasure Office, located on the first floor.
Absentee ballots may be cast between September 22 and November 6. This can be done in person at the WAPS District Office (located at 903 Gilmore Avenue, Winona, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, until Friday, November 3. Absentee voting may also take place on Monday, November 6, from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. For absentee voting via mail at no cost to the voter, please make a request by phone at 507-494-0861.
