When a mannequin has outlived its usefulness in a shop window, its life as an art form emerges. Mannequin lampshade designs by area artists will be on display during lobby hours of the Winona National Bank from November 2 through November 17.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view a variety of mediums, some mosaical and some feathered. Some are bold and bronzed and some are nostalgic, retro, and whimsical. The mannequins are lit up and crowned with unique lampshades creating a work of art that symbolizes light and hope for down syndrome children and their families in the Minnesota and Wisconsin areas. The focus of Light up a Life is on children at risk. The project is specifically targeting medical risks to children and the financial burden carried by families of children with DS.
Mannequin art, through Light up a Life, will be for sale at auction sometime in May 2018. All money and donations from the auction will go directly to the Down Syndrome Associations (DSAW and MNDSA).
