Drop-in broomball at Bud King outdoor rink on Tuesday nights

Grab a friend and join in for open broomball night each Tuesday evening! Play is on the new, outdoor refrigerated rink at Bud King. Play begins at 7 p.m. each week; participants form teams on their own and play pickup games. It’s a great place to try out the sport, socialize, and improve skills! Brooms and balls are provided, but it is recommended you bring your own helmet and any other protective gear you wish. Winter boots, broomball shoes, or tennis shoes are acceptable footwear. Participants can drop in and pay $3 at the door each time they come, or register online for a $15 season broomball pass. The season runs until March 13, 2018.

Adult softball registration is now open

Adult softball team registration opened for returning teams on Monday, January 29, and goes through Wednesday, February 21. Registration will be available for new teams starting on February 23 (remember, a team is considered new if it has less than five returning players from your 2017 roster). The last day for all teams to register is on Wednesday, March 7. After that, any teams that are accepted will incur a $60 late fee. The roster limit is 20 players per team (30 for co-rec). Players must be at least 16 years old as of December 31, 2018, to be eligible to play in leagues. Returning teams will be registered according to their league alignment, which was emailed out to last year’s managers on January 25. Any alternative requests for league placement should be noted on your team registration form. Registration forms must be accompanied by full payment. Fees remain the same for 2018 with men’s and women’s teams at $460 and co-rec teams at $495 (includes an extra set of softballs).

New: Monday night men’s 35 and up softball league

Park and Rec will be offering a new 35 and up men’s league on Monday evenings this season. Players in this league must be at least 35 years of age or turn 35 by December 31, 2018, and are still eligible to play in one of the other men’s leagues and/or co-rec leagues. The league has a minimum of four teams with a maximum of 10 teams this year.
