County Fair celebrates 160 years

(7/9/2018)

by SARAH SQUIRES

Whip through the air on rides, or put on your petticoat and square dance in circles with your beau. Bring your best recipe baked to perfection, your Legos for a Lego competition, or bring the livestock you’ve been raising all year — but whatever you do, be sure to bring yourself and your friends and family to this year’s Winona County Fair, the 160th year county families have made memories and celebrated the bounty of the area they call home.

“Come and experience the Winona County Fair,” said County Fair Board member John Brogan, who has served for about the last six years. “We’ve put a lot of time and effort into it, and it’s just nice to see people come and enjoy it.”

This year the fair, which runs from July 11-15, is packed with things to do for people of all ages, from learning about gardening events with Winona County Master Gardeners, to art sessions with area artists, to a lego competition on Saturday and all the fair traditions — rides, food, exhibitions and all the 4-H livestock and craft shows.
