The public is invited to attend The Minnesota Genbu-Kai Karate Tournament on Saturday, July 21, at the Winona YMCA. The tournament begins at 10 a.m. Events include sparring, kata (forms) and weapons competitions. Competitors will attend from around the country.
Mr. Fumio Demura is an honored guest and karate master. He is celebrating 70 years of training in karate. Demura is recognized worldwide as a leading karate teacher. He has been published in many magazines and his skills featured in many movies.
The local Genbu-Kai karate organization is led by Mr. Fritz Speck. There will also be karate seminars, testing and a banquet. “We are looking forward to learning from Sensei Demura and to competing with our friends from around the country,” said Speck.
