Needs of children should be met with WAPS’ busing

From: Shannon Doberstein

There should be something in the policy about children in preschool or kindergarten needing an adult to meet them, or allowing those children to have special drop-off points. Too many children go missing — or now, are being hit by vehicles while trying to go home.

My daughter is five years old and in kindergarten at St. Martin’s. We use the public school bus for her to travel to daycare. When the routes were sent out before school started I was informed that asking a child to walk three blocks was not uncalled for. While the school system and bus company have that right, the needs of the little kids should be taken into account.
