Deanne Mohr and Eric Brisson, music professors at Winona State University, will present a piano concert at Old Main on Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature “French Suite no. 2 in C minor,” “BWV 813” by Johann Sebastian Bach played by Dr. Mohr, and “Sonata in B minor, S. 178” by Franz Liszt played by Dr. Brisson. It was Drs. Mohr and Brisson who first suggested use of the Old Main venue as an off-campus auditorium for student performances, before they present recitals for which they are graded. They give a benefit performance each year to help raise funding for student stipends as a means to encourage students preparing for musical careers.
Complimentary refreshments will be served at intermission in the gallery space on the second floor. The art display for March is a beautiful display of woodturning pieces by 15 different artists. People will be able to purchase and take items with them. Wildlife paintings by Warren Rivette will also be on display and available for sale.
The mission of Old Main is to feed the culture of the region in many different ways.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for college students. Performances are free to people in high school and younger. Old Main is located at 20869 College Avenue in Galesville. Turn south on 12th Street from West Ridge or West Gale Avenue. Take 12th to College Avenue, and turn right. The stone building on the left side of the street is Old Main.
