Music from The Creek Chicks and Doug Mahlum
Old Main will host its Irish Holiday on Saturday, March 16, at 6 p.m. The corned beef or ham and cabbage dinner — complete with potatoes, carrots, soda bread, cupcakes from Lylli and Ivi, other desserts, and more — has become a popular March celebration in Galesville. The Cree k Chicks with special guest, Doug Mahlum, as well as drummer, Brad Kampf, will present a benefit concert of Irish music following the dinner. Proceeds from the evening will support the elevator fund. The Creek Chicks (and guests) are Vickie Baer, piano and accordion; Sarah Ashland, guitar; Alex Pehling, fiddle and vocals; Doug Mahlum, mandolin, guitar, and vocals; and Brad Kampf, bodhran.
Admission is $25 for adults, $15 for teens, $10 for kids ages eight to 12, and free to children seven and under. Tickets may be purchased or reserved at the Common Market by calling 582-4442. Thank you for your continued support of Gale Star programs at Old Main, allowing further events at the historic building that is the legacy of Gale College and Marynook.
The art display for March is a beautiful collection of woodturning pieces by 15 different artists. People will be able to purchase and take items with them. Wildlife paintings by Warren Rivette will also be on display and available for sale.
The mission of Old Main is to feed the culture of the region in many different ways. Old Main is located at 20869 College Avenue in Galesville. Turn south on 12th Street from West Ridge or West Gale Avenue. Take it to College Avenue and turn right. The stone building on the left side of the street is Old Main.
