Come help celebrate!
Dave Mertes, Saint Anne of Winona volunteer, was recently honored by LeadingAge Minnesota with the District Volunteer of the Year award.
The District Volunteer of the Year award honors individuals in older-adult services whose commitment and dedication enhance the quality of life for seniors and their communities. Mertes was one of five volunteers in the state selected for the regional award.
Mertes has volunteered at Saint Anne for 33 years, lending a hand in various activities such as passing water, volunteering in the chapel, calling bingo, assisting with events, playing Santa, and being an active board member on both the operating board and foundation board. Mertes is well known across campus, placing a high importance on getting to know everyone who walks through the doors, weather they are a new resident or staff member. He always has a smile on his face and his interactions with others are both personal and uplifting.
“Dave is a friend to all he encounters and is loved by our residents, guests, staff and volunteers,” said Jodi Barton.
Come help celebrate Mertes and his achievement at St. Anne of Winona Extended Healthcare in the main dining room on Thursday, March 28, from 2-3:30 p.m. Enjoy hors d’oeuves, cake, cocktails and other refreshments while playing “DaveM” (bingo)! If you have any questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 507-205-6227.
