SG Danceworkz and Fitness Studio, LLC, wrapped up its 2018-2019 SG Performance Company season under the direction of Sheena Gifford.
The SG Traveling Performance Company members traveled to Hollywood Dance Vibe (Des Moines, Iowa), Intrigue Dance Intensive (Minneapolis, Minn.), Celebrity Dance Competition (Rochester, Minn.), and Starz Dance Competition (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.). Their numbers received high adjudication awards, placed in several categories, choreography awards, and received several judge’s awards. SG also had several students who earned scholarships, individual recognition, and placed in improv!
Jaydan Kaehler received the Judge’s Choice Award at Intrigue Dance Intensive for her self-choreographed solo “I Love You.” Kaehler was selected as the only number out of over 100 numbers to re-perform her solo during the showcase at the end of the weekend. Kaehler was also selected as a Year-Long Scholarship Winner that weekend, as well, which is one of their top scholarships.
Katie Speltz was selected as a True Performer at Intrigue Dance Intensive: the highest scholarship you can receive. She will be auditioning for the opportunity to become one of their assistants this summer in Orlando, Fla. Speltz also received the overall highest score — out of over 400 numbers — for the entire weekend at Starz Dance Competition for her solo “Say Something,” choreographed by Sheena Gifford.
The SG Community Performance Company has stayed busy entertaining the Winona community! SG Dancers were seen performing for Winona Friendship Center, Sauer Health Care, WarriorThon, Watkins Manor, Miss Winona Scholarship Program, St. Stan’s Father/Daughter Dance, and Lake Winona Manor. SG participated at Trunk or Treat, Lake Winona Manor Parade, Family Fun Day, Steamboat Days Parade and volunteered at Trinona by running a water booth and cheering station!
All students involved in the SG Performance Company were required to complete at least five hours of community service. On top of the performances for local events, the 2018-19 SG Performance Company collected over 400 hours of community service.
2018-19 SG Performance Company members include Benjamin Barrientos, Karianna Barrientos, Morgan Bedor, Emily Benke, Kyra Benson, Risa Borland, Ashley Brommerich, Melanie Butenhoff, Kaitlin Celius, Maddie Cone, Alivia Douglas, Faith Eide, Jennifer Frick, Kendal Goyette, Piper Goyette, Delaney Hermsen, Lily Jacques, Tierzah Jacques, Vivienne Jacques, Jaydan Kaehler, Kyana Kuhn, Joselyn Lockington, Marissa McNally, Trinity Merchlewitz, McKenna Meyer, Katie Speltz, Olivia Stark, Emily Swartling, Shelby Tesch, Abigail Thiele, Miranda Thill, Alexis Urbick, and Mitchell Whillock.

Both Celius and Kaehler assisted with choreography and during rehearsals and events, and were an incredible help to the program.
