Some of our politicians today are promoting a culture of fear. We’re being told that we’re on the verge of an economic melt down and recession. We’re also being told that within the next 10 or 12 years, global warming will permanently damage our environment.
For years we’ve lived with a fear of a nuclear disaster. The threat of war hangs heavy over us. Mass shootings and terrorisms continue to promote fear.
Jesus said that we shouldn’t fear those who can only kill the body but to fear him who has the power to cast body and soul into Hell. He also said that in this world we would have trouble but that we could be of good cheer because he has overcome this world system. He took the death that we deserve and by His death and resurrection He conquered the one who has the power of death that we might have hope. The apostle Paul in Romans 15:13 wrote, “Now may the God of Hope so fill you with joy and peace as you trust Him that by the power of His life-giving Spirit you may overflow with hope.”
Think about this: the Psalmist wrote, “God is our refuse and strength and ever-present to help in our time of need.” So put your trust in Him and rejoice that all His promises are proven true. God will never let you down.
