Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter and pianist Carlisle Evans Peck brings his ethereal and ornate music to Winona for a solo show at Acoustic Cafe on November 9. Unfolding like intricate blooms, Peck’s songs transform the particulars of personal experience into archetypal mythology. His richly textured music defies genre classification — music theater meets plainchant and songs become sagas among his virtuosic piano performances, lush orchestration, and ethereal falsetto. In 2018 he released “Electric Porcelain,” an ambitious orchestral-rock epic of queer love, loss and transformation. Equally at home in a wooded glade or on a cabaret stage, Peck has enchanted audiences throughout the Midwest with his intimate and moving compositions. This music is somewhere between a candlelit night at the theater and an ancient sung-epic — listeners, expect to be transported.
