The Winona Art Walk goes virtual

(11/25/2020)

Celebrating its 20th year and embracing River Arts Alliance’s “Art Never Stops” motto, the Winona Art Walk will be held online this year. This annual event is eagerly anticipated as the opportunity to support artists in our community by shopping locally for the holiday season. This is especially important in 2020, a year that has been particularly difficult for members of the arts community.

Over the last 20 years, artists have opened their studios and shared their work in a very personal way. Being able to meet the person who created some of your most treasured possessions brings even more meaning to collecting and enjoying art in your home. Without the in-person experience this year, the artists will share themselves in unique ways. Some offer video, many tell personal stories, all present their unique work for you to explore. Visitors to the website are invited to spend some time in each gallery and find that special feeling that you only get when you discover something new.

From November 21 through December 31, art galleries will be “open” on the new website winonaartwalk.org. If you see something you like, you will be able to contact each artist directly or visit their personal website to make a purchase. Participating artists include:

•    Will Brzezinski — ceramics;

•    Julia Crozier — oil paintings, pastel drawings, and linoleum cuts;

•    Lydia Erickson — hand-painted pottery;

•    Gary Flynn — wooden creations;

•    Mary Forney — painting, drawing, and mixed media;

•    Virginia Huber — “People Looking Out for People” paintings;

•    Julie Johnston — colorful, impressionistic oil and pastel painting;

•    Patsy King — acrylic paintings;

•    Jean Mueller — contemporary fiber art;

•    Anne Scott Plummer — stoneware;

•    Jack Rumpel — functional ceramics;

•    Teresa Schumaker — pottery;

•    Silver Studio Jewelry Artists — unique jewelry pieces;

•    Winona Arts Center — update on their accessibility renovations.

The Winona Art Walk became a project of the River Arts Alliance in 2016. It is coordinated and facilitated by the members and staff of RAA. The new website was designed and developed by Heidi Bryant, RAA’s webmaster and communications coordinator.
