The Winona County Historical Society’s summer fundraiser Chocolate, Shakespeare, and Champagne will be held June 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Winona County History Center (160 Johnson Street). The favorite summer party has the same treats, but with some added twists to the evening.
Because of construction on the grounds at the long-time location, The Alexander Mansion B&B, the event will move to the History Center. The move can welcome more to the party and means the event is not weather dependent. A cash bar will also be offered for those who are not champagne fans, but the crisp bubbly will still be part of the ticket price, along with a delicious assortment of chocolate desserts made by area caterers, restaurants and bakeries, including Beno’s Deli, Bloedow Bakery, Blooming Grounds, Bub’s Brewing Company, Dante’s Cookies, HyVee, Jefferson’s Pub and Grill, Signatures Restaurant, Steak Shop Catering, Heidi Ryan/Carriage House B&B, and Winona Bread and Bagel.
The grand prize gift basket features many local businesses offering some amazing gifts! Chances will be offered for $5 each during the evening and the lucky winner will be selected following the GRSF sneak peek performances. Some of the gifts included in the basket are two tickets to the Great River Shakespeare Festival, $100.00; Signatures gift certificate, $100.00; Alexander Mansion Bed and Breakfast, $100.00 gift certificate; family membership to the Winona County Historical Society, $50; The Garvin Heights Vineyard Blend Your Own Bottle Experience for up to four people, $220; Pots and Porches $25 gift certificate; Jade Community Acupuncture gift certificate, $20, for one acupuncture treatment; Yarnology gift certificate, $50; Tsarine French Champagne, $60; champagne glasses, $15; Godiva chocolate, $20; basket, $20, from Brom Micro Systems.
