One Way Theater of Onalaska will present “Yellow Star” by Mary Evelyn Notgrass on May 5 at 7 p.m. and May 6 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Life isn’t easy for the people of a little French village with Nazi soldiers around every corner, but there are joys, secrets, questions, and fears that shape the story of a star. Written and performed in a style that brings alive a largely ignored historic era in an engaging, humorous, and thought provoking way, “Yellow Star” is great for all ages.
One Way Theatre is a new organization created by Ashley Brown and Joanna Heram providing home educated children with opportunities to engage in high quality theater experiences. The cast consists of 25 students and is directed by Joanna Heram.
This play extends the work of the performing arts committee at Old Main in providing newly formed groups the opportunity to offer early performances as they become better known. These performances include the work of highly professional performers as well student community groups, soloists, and ensembles. Support from the Coulee region community helps make these great performances happen.
Refreshments will be provided at intermission with the opportunity to view an art display.
Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for college students. Performances are free to people in high school and younger.
