Events at the Winona Friendship Center

Winona Friendship Center members will receive a renewal letter a month before they need to renew their membership. Yearly memberships are $27 for individuals and $37 for a couple (two per household). Interested community members may stop into the center to renew or purchase a membership. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

2017 Active Wellness Center membership

Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. WSU Exercise Science students are available for monitoring and training. The center has older adult friendly exercise equipment, and workout programs designed specifically for each individual. Release forms must be filled out prior to workout on the first day; forms will be faxed to participants’ doctor to avoid charges for an office visit.  

Payment is required upon registering. The cost for members is $74 annually.

Acrylic painting class

This class is facilitated by Sylvia Tolzin and will run on June 5, July 3, and August 7, from 2-5 p.m. The cost for members is $25 per class. No experience is necessary; all artists will paint the same image as the instructor. A different painting will be done at each class. Supplies are provided. Attendees must preregister and payment is due at the time of registration.

The Senior Advocacy Program provides information and assistance to people over age 60. If you need assistance, please call 507-454-7369.

 

Monthly movies

Stop by the center to read about each featured film. Members are free. Donations for refreshments are greatly appreciated. Please pre-register for movies. The next movie will be on June 26 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. It will be “Casino Royale,” (2006), rated PG-13. On July 24 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. will be “Bridge of Spies,” rated PG-13. On August 28 from 1-3 p.m. will be “Brooklyn,” rated PG-13.
