Kevin Kling and Will Run at Great River Shakespeare Festival

Great River Shakespeare Festival (GRSF) has another full weekend planned for Winonans and travelers alike. Highlights include a Front Porch event on Saturday, July 15, at 11 a.m. in the Winona State University Performing Arts Center. Kevin Kling is best known for his commentaries on National Public Radio. He delivers hilarious, often tender autobiographical stories about growing up in Minnesota. Tickets are $15 and available online at, over the phone at 507-474-7900, or in person at the GRSF Box Office.

On Sunday, July 16, at 8 a.m. the fourth annual Will Run race will take place. Will Run begins at the Lake Park Lodge on Lake Winona. The race goes around the lake and ends by the band shell. It is 28 furlongs (3.6 miles). There are prizes for all age groups and even a “twin” contest. Participants can come dressed up with a twin (just like in “The Comedy of Errors”) for a chance to win a prize. Community members can register online at or stop into the Box Office at 79 East Third Street in downtown Winona to pick up a registration form. All registrants will get a Will Run hat and 20 percent off their tickets for “Richard III” on Sunday, July 16, at 2 p.m.
