Children in grades three through six are invited to participate in Once Upon a Theater Lab, a theater workshop hosted by the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts (MCA) on March 2-4 at the Valéncia Arts Center, 1164 West 10th Street.
During this three-day workshop, the young actors will work together to bring a unique rendition of a classic fairy tale to life. Students will stretch their creative muscles while learning new theater vocabulary and stage skills as they prepare for the showcase on the final day of camp, performed for family and friends.
Celeste Nygren, senior Saint Mary’s University theater education student, will lead the workshop with guidance from MCA staff and help from other Saint Mary’s theater students. Nygren is also a speech coach at Cotter Schools and was a teaching intern with Taproot Theatre Company in Seattle, Wash.
Once Upon a Theater Lab will take place on March 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on March 3-4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is $49 and limited to 12 students.
