“Gyotaku” — fish print

Earth Day – Earth Expressions workshop

The Winona Arts Center Print Studio “RiverBed Press” will hold a free children’s workshop, Earth Day – Earth Expressions, on Saturday, April 21, from 1-3 p.m. Participants will make Gyotaku prints from rubber fish replicas. This form of nature printing was used by Japanese fishermen to record their catches dating back to the 1800s, and has also become an art form of its own. They will also be making painted paper trees with birds and animals. All ages are welcome. Adults must accompany children 14 and under. This event is sponsored by a grant from Dennis Jennings. For more information, call Mary at 608-525-0050. The Winona Arts Center is located at 228 East Fifth Street in Winona.
