Winona State University Spring Jazz Ensemble Concert


The Winona State University Jazz Ensemble will present its annual Spring Jazz Concert on Friday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Stage at the Performing Arts Center. The Jazz Ensemble will be performing selections in a variety of styles by Pat Metheny, Dean Sorensen, Hank Levy and Gordon Goodwin. The concert is free.

Featured guest artist at the concert will be Hayden Fihn. Fihn is a part-time freelance trumpet player and educator in the Winona/LaCrosse/Rochester area. Fihn received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in trumpet performance from McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul, Minn. He studied with and played next to top tier musicians and educators such as Pete Whitman, Scott Agster, Adam Meckler, Charles Lazarus, Dave Jensen, and Adi Yeshaya. Fihn is a founding member of the Minneapolis-based McNasty Brass Band and has been a full-time member ever since.
