WINONArts events continue with Summer Floating Concert featuring music from Reina Del Cid

The WINONArts series of free creative events continues with a Summer Floating Concert featuring music from the Reina Del Cid, the popular singer-songwriter and her band from the Twin Cities. Last spring Mike Munson played a set of music in the middle of Lake Winona after he asked, “Why don’t we have a floating concert, and have the folks paddle out to hear music in the heart of the most beautiful site in all Minnesota?” Organizers have had two more concerts since then, and have started a new Winona tradition. Choose to sit on the banks of the lake or paddle out to hear the music: free boats will be provided (while supplies last), or feel free to bring your own. Come out to Lake Lodge on Sunday, August 5, with boats being launched at 3:30 p.m. and music from 4-5 p.m. The series of floating concerts will continue with the legendary Bus Boys on September 23 performing with the fall colors as a backdrop.

Part singer-songwriter group, part rock band, you can find Reina Del Cid and company at the intersection of lyrical storytelling, catchy riffs, and scorching solos. After building a devoted online following as a solo artist, Del Cid teamed up with instrumentalists Toni Lindgren, Andrew Foreman, and Nate Babbs to develop a sophisticated sound with broad appeal, drawing in mixed crowds from college students to fans of all ages. Their music has been featured by “Paste Magazine,” NPR, and “Baeble Music,” and they released their third full length album, “Rerun City,” in December 2017.

About WINONArts

The city is presenting a series of free creative events, WINONArts, held throughout the year in various municipal parks and venues throughout Winona. WINONArts is possible thanks to founding sponsorships from WNB Financial, Merchants Bank, Coca Cola Bottling of Winona, and the Winona Community Foundation.

WINONArts’ mission is to solidify the city of Winona’s creative identity by active participation, partnering, and production of a wide range of arts and cultural events in city-owned spaces often working with existing creative programs and organizations and regional artists.
